Chanukah commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after a group of Jewish warriors defeated the powerful Greek armies. Also known as the Festival of Lights of Lights, “Chanukah” is a Hebrew word meaning “dedication” or “inauguration.” The first night of Chanukah begins after sunset on the 24th day of the Jewish month of Kislev and the feast is celebrated for eight days.
