Yom HaAtzma’ut
Begins sunset of Wednesday, May 8, 2019
Ends nightfall of Thursday, May 9, 2019
Israel Independence Day. It commemorates Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948. Although Yom HaAtzma’ut is normally observed on day 5 of Iyyar, it may be moved earlier or deferred if observance of the holiday (or Yom HaZikaron, which always precedes it) conflicts with the Shabbat.
